Audi takes the WIN at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in front of 250,952 spectators!

Sunday, 17 June 2007

LE MANS, France - AUDI AG has continued its impressive series of victories in the Le Mans 24 Hour race in extremely difficult conditions. Attendance was counted at more than 250,952 spectators at an event marked with heavy rain and unfavorable racing conditions.  Frank Biela (Germany), Emanuele Pirro (Italy) and Marco Werner (Germany) repeated their success from last year thus giving Audi their seventh victory in the French endurance classic.  For the second consecutive time, the Audi R10 TDI claimed victory.  The revolutionary diesel sportscar from Ingolstadt remains unbeaten at Le Mans.

In the 75th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hour race, Audi again gave an impressive proof of "Vorsprung durch Technik”.  The Audi R10 TDI was the fastest and the most reliable car in the field. From the first to the last lap, one of the three diesel sportscars from Ingolstadt headed the field.

More than 260,000 spectators witnessed one of the most exciting 24 Hour races in the history of Le Mans.  Changing weather conditions at the beginning claimed the Audi R10 TDI with start number 3 when Mike Rockenfeller left the rain-soaked track on his third lap and collided backwards into the armco barriers.

The impressive showing of Dindo Capello, Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish came to a premature end as well: After having controlled the race with a considerable margin for more than 16 hours, the left rear wheel of their Audi R10 TDI loosened on Sunday morning.  Dindo Capello who celebrated his 43rd birthday on Sunday was behind the wheel of the car.  He had no chance of avoiding the accident.

Thus, during the last five-and-a-half hours, all hopes for Audi were left on the shoulders of the Audi R10 TDI with start number 1 of Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner.  Conditions were extremely difficult owing to torrential rain in the final phase of the race, however, the established Audi drivers mastered this task with bravado.  The impressive winning margin of Marco Werner over the second-placed Peugeot was ten laps at the finish line.

After its seventh Le Mans triumph, Audi has moved up to third place in the historic records during the 75th edition of the French endurance classic.  Only Porsche and Ferrari have won at Le Mans more often than Audi.

"This was certainly the most difficult race that we have ever contested at Le Mans”, said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG after the finish. "So this victory counts even more.  On the race track, we have shown once more that we have the best technology, the best drivers and the best team. Everybody within Audi can be proud of this success.”

Audi gets Bold!

Audi launches a new, bold and assertive marketing campaign May 7, 2007 named: "Truth in Engineering" to officially kick off  2007's "Year in Emotion".  No longer desiring to be "The Best Kept Secret", Audi chooses to use swagger and soul to trigger raw emotion.  The campaign will consist of 5 television spots, on-line elements, and print media.  Factory Design Labs based in Denver, Colorado has been in charge of creating the recent expansion of micro-sites within the Audi website.  With the announcement of launching 10 new vehicle models over the next few years, we expect that there will be some exciting times ahead for Audi and it's loyal enthusiasts.                      ~ MadAudiDesign

Advanced Sound System - Audi A8 / Audi R8 / Audi A5

All of a sudden you’ll love traffic jams
Driving an Audi A8 or S8 is a joyful experience in itself. Now imagine the consummate thrill of adding what audio reviewers, test panels, conductors, and reporters from all over the world have labeled the best automotive audio system ever – admittedly, some use slightly different notations like revolutionary, sensational, flawless and stunning. What you get is no less than the quintessential driving and listening experience — combined.

The sound system delivers a total output of more than 1000 watts. However, because of our proprietary ICEpower amplifier technology you’ll get this lavish power without having to spoil the interior of your Audi with oversized loudspeaker units or – perhaps just as important – enduring the enormous heat emitted from a conventional analogue amplifier with the same output power . And because all fourteen speakers have their own dedicated amplifier (active loudspeaker technology), you’ll always enjoy the maximum clarity and the best possible control of the overall listening experience.

Audi F1. Could it happen?  "The very idea is makes the heart skip a beat as if you’re thinking of something a bit taboo. Though everyone and their brother, sister and second cousin twice removed have whispered the unfounded rumors on internet forums and even on some news pages, most know that the likelihood of it actually happening is slim-to-none. Having invested considerably in the diesel R10 Le Mans program and shown a clear preference for participating in series where they can maximize on race-to-road technology development, it’s a very safe assumption to say that Audi won’t be going into Formula One any time soon. Still, seeing those four silver rings plastered on an F1 racecar is enough to cause some talk around the water cooler. All the better if such an sight is a super-detailed CGI based on an actual F1 chassis, as has been created by the talented Australian architect and designer Kim Stapleton. With the new S5 expected to hit our shores before the end of the year, Audi will have added a third coupe this year to join the new TT and R8 models.  This is an amazing feat in itself considering the marque did not have any coupes for sale in 2006. The S5 model is expected to fit right in with the BMW 335i and the Mercedes CLK 550.  It will be a highly dynamic vehicle and will give the luxury market a much needed mid-sized European Touring Coupe.  We look forward to adding A5/S5 products to our collection that are sure to satisfy Audi enthusiasts.           ~ MadAudiDesign

2008 Audi A5/S5 Quattro

Excerpts from Audi's Official Press Release:

"INGOLSTADT, Germany - Audi is launching a fascinating new model series for its entry into a highly emotionally charged segment of the market: the A5 successfully unites the acclaimed Audi design language and thrilling dynamic driving performance, and combines generous refinement with the brand’s characteristic quality and sophistication. Its progressive design gives the new coupé an appearance that is both elegant and dynamic. With its muscular FSI and TDI engines, its entirely newly developed high-precision running gear, and a raft of innovative, luxury-class equipment features, the Audi A5 has been crafted to be a modern grand tourer, a touring coupé in the best tradition.

The Audi S5 is an extra sporty offering to complete the new series. A powerful V8 FSI engine gives the S5 a dynamic edge, which underscores its athletically accentuated design. The A5 and S5 are available to order from 6 March 2007 with the first vehicles due for delivery from June.

The Nuvolari quattro concept car of 2003 gave a first taste of Audi’s vision for a powerful and expertly styled coupé with a high performance potential and a progressive, sophisticated design – a bold step into the future."
